They include improvement of hair collision detection, the hair straightening selection, the hair curling tool, the clumping tool, and much more! Other features include memory optimizations for the content and displacement modeling/export improvements.

*Character Animation

-Using the bone tool on an existing bone now moves the bone properly.

-Weight Painting tools no longer paints on hidden faces.

*Vertex Modeling

-Adding further geometry to a boned/rigged mesh no longer results in a program freeze when switching to assembly.

-Plane of Symmetry now realigns when using Duplicate with Symmetry in the VM.

-Bridging between flat objects no longer causes a hang up.

-Can now create morph targets using Symmetry.

-Entering values for Move with a Polyline now results in the Properties Tray updating correctly.

-Assemble room mesh now updates after weight painting.

-Normal orientation no longer recalculates unnecessarily.

*3D View

-Copy and Pasting lights in Medium and Large scenes does not change their scale any longer.

-Spot Light wireframe tracking is now working.

-Ocean Objects tile correctly even at low resolution.

-3DS file import stability has been improved.

-Objects in a hierarchy that were duplicated with symmetry no longer rotate in the opposite direction.

-Duplicate with Symmetry dialog now shoes the Z axis by default.

-Default flow force no longer causes hair to grow uncontrollably long.

-Isometric Camera production frame now matches the resulting render.

*Other

-Align and Bank Motion Paths allow for smoother transitions during animation playback.

-Choosing print in the render room no longer results in an error on Windows XP.

-Particle Emitter gravity can now be greater than 15 ft / sec2.

-Moving the camera hot point no longer changes the viewpoint.

-Displacement maps no longer export upside down and now fills image.

*Hair

-The hair of deformed objects can now be simulated.

-Hair renders properly when parent is in a child to the wavefront.obj group in the attached file.

-Empty hair does not cause crashes in the hair modeler anymore.

-After an Undo that detaches the hair from its target, Carrara returns to the assembly room.

-It is possible to add "Length" to Hair Guides in the Properties tray.

C5 Pro is free and the upgrade to 6 Pro $71...
More power and fast rendering are the big winners.
Plus it is cheaper than DS if you end up buying a bunch of Plugins to make up for what DS lacks...

I downloaded the 6.1 (as the upgrade was not available). I still need to install it.
If I have enough time, I shall attend the Carrara contest. $1000 for the first price, that's start being pretty interesting.

Sorry I mean an update. I had to download 480MB where it could have been reduced to just the file modified.

Here is the link to the contest.
