SSS and IOR in Carrara 6

I've been trying (in the last few days) to learn Carrara in earnest. One of the first things I chose to tackle is getting good skin.

So, I started by loading V4, applying a skin texture and trying to emulate some of stuff done in DAZ Studio (like SSS).

Well, I'm a bit confused by Carrara's SSS panel (in the shader room). For example, there's a slider that regulates refraction as a percentage...

If I'd like to set the IOR to 1.4, how do I do that in Carrara? There's a separate IOR setting, where you can input a hard coded IOR and then there's the slider under SSS I just mentioned. Does one use both? Or do I simply use the slider with no idea how that relates to the "real world?"

Anyhow, if anyone has insight into how all this operates, it would be more than welcome info.

I don't know... this percentage could be the transmission coefficient (understand the translucency/transparency).
