Carrara 6 Express

Post by Lakys » Fri Oct 19, 2007 12:55 am

Considering the current price for Platinum Club members ($20), I am considering to buy a licence for Carrara 6 Express.

Has any of you bought it yet? Is it really intuitive and easy to use?

I guess I shall probably buy it... soon... ...er or later.

I'm thinking the same thing. I'm just not sure if I'm throwing my money out the window...

I have finally bought it. :)

You will have a quick review and my impressions. Well as soon as it will be downloaded (something like 600MB for a PC!).

Guess what? I bought it, too! I haven't downloaded it yet either. I hope it doesn't turn out to be too complicated. I'm really curious how it compares to other applications.

First impression....

It is still Carrara... not simplier to use, not worse...
You know the reasons why you love it or why you hate it. They might be still there.

The interface is basically the same. And I still feel like being in a complex 3D suite.
Even if creating a scene looks simple with the browsable content or with the new wizard, suddenly when you try to load V4, you wait for two minutes... before she appears in the scene browser... ok all the bones are there... but where is she in the scene? The only thing I could find or move is very small yellow box.
Why I ended with V4? Just because I could not find anything nice from the hundreds of old objects to put in my landscape...

I missed something? Probably?
I am a bad Carrara user? Definately... :?

I know why I love Vue 6, DAZ|Studio... I know why I hate Poser...
It has something to do with the interface, the way application has been thought...

Now I am another user, with my subjective point of view. You may like what I hate... and hate what I like.
That's why there are so many 3D suites, just because we are not appreciating things differentialy.

To give you a hint... I think at the start, RayDream Studio was intended to provide a very easy to use 3D applications...
Evolving to Carrara, it aimed to become a major 3D suite, and it has certainly most of the features and capabilities.
Alas even if DAZ has taken over it, the interface still remains bascially the same, probably as the version 6 is probably intended first for Carrara lovers (and userbase).
Big DAZ marketing has made me purchasing C6 Express. But the application has not (yet) convinced me, it is much (or just) better than some similar 3D app.

Cowdog: just saw your message. I hope you will like it more than I do. I don't think it is complicated... just requiring efforts and patience to understand how to use it properly (which is not my case atm).
