Any Carrara users aboard?

Post by Lakys » Tue May 30, 2006 10:31 pm

I am glad to say I have finally bought Carrara 5 Pro. Well it is still downloading....

I think that Weimart has got the Transposer/Standard version? :)

Who else?

Yes, I got that deal
Mine is installed but no time to do much more than loading V3 and trying to pose her. :?

I got the Standard version as well. As good a deal as the Pro version is, my wallet wouldn't stretch that far.

I've been playing around with it, Advanced Library is pretty much a requirement to use Poser content with it. With DAZ being denied access to the Poser 7 SDK, I think we can safely expect C6 to be able to read daz content directly.

I bought the cheap version (basic) and haven't done anything beyond launching the application. I'm still trying to learn Bryce, Hexagon, etc. so I have a long way to go before I sink my teeth into yet another application.

Well rather the same for me. And I feel bad now to have paid DAZ introduction price for C5Pro :?
But I really want to make things with it.

I absolutely LOVE Carrara's renderer, shader and a bunch of the other special features...but...

1) My system doesn't stand up to it very well at all
2) I prefer being able to see all the textures and whatnot like you can with D|S (one of the many reasons I use D|S over Poser also)

With another stick or 2 of RAM and a better preview (without rendering...) I would probably really start making the move to Carrara (I have standard)

I now am a licensed user of Carrarra 5 pro!

Because of the 3D world issue 100 deal I posted I now am a licensed user of Carrarra 5 pro!

Note: don't forget the 25% off upgrade coupon I mentioned on that same thread also.

Being a beginner I decided to try the 30 trial of Carrara 6.
Any one what to try it with me?

I would love to see the skin presets by Lakys work in that program (not sure they do not already) as they are really nice.

Sorry VitalBodies, but I fear they won't. My (DAZ|Studio) presets are intended to work with 3Delight only.
For Carrara, you need to create new skin shaders using SSS and other features.

I got the Express version with the Davy Jones sale at DAZ - I just open look around, click a few things and close it. My learning curve has been bent this last month on D/S alone - even picked up Bryce Boxed 5.5 - that I have been spending some time getting acquainted with.

Congrats for your purchases. :)

Well, it is not easy to learn several applications at the same time. Each of them, DAZ|Studio, Cararra or Bryce, has its own philosophy, interface, logic...

Carrara capabilities are far beyond DAZ|Studio, but I wonder would be it interesting that we study how to get a DAZ|Studio scene (say a character) into Carrara and to render it nicely?

I have used the magic scissors: the discussion and project to adapt scenes from DAZ|Studio to Carrara with characters and skin effect has been moved into a new thread.

Feel free to continue other discussions here.
