Victoria 4.2 with GW5 female texture with DAZ|Studio

Post by Lakys » Wed Feb 13, 2008 1:53 pm

Well once again a big disapointing using the DS material files provided with the product.
It uses a blueish diffuse color (which could have been good with the skin lighting model). It is set to plastic.
Bump mapping seems to have been set to a very low value.

Here are renders made with a single distant light. We are far from the promos.

It seems that we shall need to figure out how to improve it.

A attempt with USMP (SHE version)

Post by Lakys » Wed Feb 13, 2008 2:02 pm

First reflex, apply USMP and see how things look.

Well, it is much better, but still far from being impressive or whatever.
She looks somehow reddish (to my taste).

Gums, teeth and more

Post by Lakys » Wed Feb 13, 2008 2:50 pm

Well, I started by what I like the less, making innermouth thingies.

The tongue effect is not good. The rest is ok.

Note that I have used the specular maps provided.

Been working for a while and could arrive to this.

It uses both specular maps and bump mapping.

Pretty good!
Well once again a big disapointing using the DS material files provided with the product.
Except for one or two merchants that actually use D|S and thus make their D|S mats, I also find that the provided mats are not as good as they could be. And in some case even worse that poser mats! :?

Not sure if I'll buy those textures, I bought most of the Pre-release sales characters already.

I have tweaked things further.

I dislike skin specular maps in D|S, but I tried my best with the standard skin shader.

I attached a high resolution render. So you can see the full body (2000x5000px).

GW5 with makeup

Post by Lakys » Thu Feb 14, 2008 10:54 pm

Here is version with the makeup. I made the lips somehow darker than the original texture. I did not like them much with that red.

Attached a 1200x1600 render, plus the preset.

You're welcome. :)

You have several solutions:
- place it anywhere on your hard disk and use the File > Merge function to use it
- place it into the DAZ|Studio Content directory (or a sub-folder), which allows to use it using the Content Browser.
In this case, you just need to select V4 in the scene browser and to double-click on the preset from the content browser.

Let me know if it makes sense to you.

Second make-up version

Post by Lakys » Fri Feb 15, 2008 5:47 pm

Well I tried to make a new preset with light eyes and normal make-up, for people who would be more interested by the normal look of the texture.
Eye highlights are made somehow larger, for intense sight.
