Cowdog...

Post by VitalBodies » Mon Mar 24, 2008 8:27 pm

Of course, my biggest gripe at the moment is that I can no longer render to RIB and use 3Delight 7.0...
Could you say more about using 3Delight 7.0 and why you use it?
I started a thread about using other rendering engines and have an interest in that...

A note before Cowdog answers:
- D|S RIB features is built-in (no need of any external script) and does work.
- D|S 2 still uses 3Delight 6.5

Download the lastest version of DAZ Studio
why?

my 1.3.1 runs faster as a tactical longrange missile, no need to change anything.
(contrary to the DAZ3D statement, Victoria 4.x works wonderfully in v1.3, but I do not particularly like this toony figure)

ok, on another PC I test regulary some of the newer versions and features, but always return to my oldschool rocket.
3delight 5.0.2 works fine for my scene test renders and 3rd party shaders (if I have the source) are prepared to use in a few seconds.

If all looks well, I mostly export as Wavefront and render with VRay or FinalRender, depends on the scene (Collada export is buggy in DS13 :( )

DAZ Studio 2.2.2.20 (Beta)
Daz3D Support wrote:This release fixes the problems in DAZ Studio 2.2.2.17 where the render engine crashes during long render events. It also contains an updated installer that corrects the situation that would sometimes cause content to disappear. This version is not currently available on download.com. It will only become available on download.com when it is deemed stable enough based on feedback from the DAZ 3D community.

DAZ Studio 2.3.3.25 (Beta)

Post by habot » Thu Jul 24, 2008 9:21 am

DAZ Studio 2.3.3.25 (Beta)
Daz3D wrote:There is a new version of DAZ Studio labeled as Beta that is available here. It is version 2.3.3.25. Two of the primary enhancements are:

1. Cancel Load - this feature allows the user to cancel the loading or merging of a saved scene file.
2. Clear Scene - Clearing the scene when creating a new document or closing DAZ Studio is now faster.

Here are some additional changes:
  • - The Collada exporter was enhanced
    - Material presets were updated to better support dynamic clothing content
    - The smoothing angle was enhanced
    - The BVH importer was updated to fix bugs
    - The installer was updated to prevent future upgrades of DAZ Studio from removing the bundled content of the previous version.
    - PowerLoader updated to fix bugs
    - Crashes relating to loading scenes saved in previous versions of studio were fixed.
    - Crashes relating to rendering were fixed.
    - Hang due to race condition with optimizing images while rendering fixed
    - General bug fix emphasis was on crashes.

:D Looks like it's taking shape finally.
I hope the Dynamic Clothes plug-in will now come real soon and not DAZ soon, and that support for Poser dynamics will be added.

I'm doing a render in it right now and so far it's doing pretty good rendering a scene that was set up on 2.3.3.25.

Sounds great. I have not installed it yet as I was out.

Have you noticed any significant improvements in this new version?

Avoid the latest beta version 2.3.3.37

Post by Bison Ravi » Tue Aug 26, 2008 8:09 pm

I've just discovered a problem with the latest version (2.3.3.37). This version is likely to have some memory leaks. I was rendering a picture (1800x1800) and the program took about 1.6 Gb of RAM after having calculated about 85% of the picture. When no memory was left, the application crashed...

I've also discovered that we can't load a file that has been saved with a newer version of DAZ.

Bad day...
