i think that performance-wise, loading isn't bad. 1.7 secs to load v3 and aery soul's eclipse outfit. directx is feeling very fast. enough for tonite, i might try to render a few images for the dragon contest thing DAZ has going on. i'll try to get back to this in a few days and combine the cr2 view...

nah, i am not ready to do too much with it yet. it is a very simple format parser... it really doesn't know anything about a cr2 yet, it just knows the basic format of one. it knows what should indicate a node and a leaf, but nothing particular about it. i have not even really tested it much. it see...

New Project

So a couple years ago I was playing around with the innards of cr2 and obj files, just for fun. I am thinking about diving in again. I have found some early code I made for a cr2 parser and cleaned it up a little bit. It is just a CR2 viewer at the moment, but may grow into something more. Attached ...

the hardest bit was the graphics card. i went back and forth on that a lot. i originally started considering an 8800gt, and thought i might do 2. then i asked myself just how much i'd really use it. then i backed down to an 8600. looking at reviews it seemed like i'd lose quite a bit with the 8600, ...

so i tried vista when it first came out. really hated it. mostly due to the fact that they chopped features out. my personal grievance is windows explorer. windows explorer on xp is great. good for new people, can be customized for power users. windows explorer on vista: crap. and it was true, the s...

maxtor: hit and miss. i've had bad and i've had good. generally, i no longer buy em, tho. i am using 250gb and 500gb variants of seagate cudas (10 series). really wanted the 11 series but decided that raid 5 with the 10s would give me great performance, and it has. hdtach pegs the 250 at ~82mb/s, th...

here's what i built a few weeks back: http://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/wishlist/PublicWishDetail.asp?WishListNumber=9134908 nothing terribly cutting edge but it's solid. basically the Q6600 with a mild overclock to 3ghz. 8gb of fast DDR2 RAM (6400 @ 800mhz running 4-4-4-12... fast for the size). ...

Thanks, Lakys, that is about what I figured. Those pics are 700-900k each. Low-Bandwidth users, beware =)

I like to render big.
