Mirror Reflection Shader Preset

Post by Lakys » Mon Dec 19, 2005 3:15 pm

Well as some people still seem to struggle with mirror, here is a mirror shader preset you can use with some primitive props.

Note:
- you must use 3Delight (software render in menu Render > Render Options)
- maximum raytrace depth should be at least 1 (in advanced render option tab)
- you have to render your scene (isn't it obvious ;)
- It uses default DAZ surface shaders.

Keep in mind that the mirror reflects all things which are around. So there is nothing, or that that it is not enlighted (with 0 ambience), it will look black.

Thank you.
I'm not good at saving my settings
so this is nice and could be a time saver,
if I ever would make mirrors :)

Me neither
I rarely save my own settings for my own purpose. I got used to tweak those surface settings ;)

Thanks! :)

New Update

Post by Lakys » Fri Apr 21, 2006 9:06 am

There might be still some old broken link (due to some forum upgrade).

Thank you for notifying me about this, Heatherlee.

At least it is good to remind me to update those files in order for an optimal support with the latest DAZ|Studio versions. ;)

The update comes in two versions:
- simple dsb script (no icon, no readme, no path)
- zip package (with readme.txt, icon, path) that you just need to unzip in your DAZ|Studio main folder.

thank you, I can't wait to try this out. I have tried and tried, but can't seem to get the mirror effect on my own.

You're welcome, let us know if you have any problems using it.
Normally using 3Delight, you should get your reflection effect.

Beside, welcome aboard ;)

The two links are working for me with my browser (Firefox 1.5.0.3).

Which web browser are you using MrsJohn?

I'm using IE6 (no need for comment) I'll have duesouth check it out later. But I did find that he had downloaded it from somewhere. So I did a quick render with it. (been playing with it all afternoon really) :)
